How to fix a nylon guitar string?

I was putting on a new set of strings on my classical guitar. They are ball ends and I was tuning up the B string and the ball on the end popped but the string didn't break. I don't know where the ball is I wan't to know if there is anything I can do to fix it so I can put it back on my guitar.
